All countries that have signed the Hague Child Abduction Convention have a Central Authority. The Central Authority handles requests from parents for their child’s return and for international contact arrangements. The Central Authority also handles requests from organizations for information or action concerning a child. In the Netherlands, the Central Authority International Children’s Issues is a department of the Ministry of Justice and Safety.
